While Virginia Woolf was searching for silence and peace in her writing, Benjamin Britten was composing bars of silence into his scores. Woolf's The Waves, her self-termed ?playpoem', and Britten's haunting Phantasy Quartet are married in this musical and physical exploration of the power of silence and solitude.
