The Gorbals Vampire

In 1954, playgrounds across Glasgow, already enthralled with American horror comics, were abuzz with the tale of a man with iron teeth who had abducted and eaten two local young boys. One night in late September, hundreds of children aged 4 - 14 gathered at the Southern Necropolis. Armed with whatever they could find, they began a chaotic hunt through the Gorbals to track down and kill the Gorbals Vampire, shocking the authorities and the general public.

Production details

The Gorbals Vampire is new play performed by amateur actors and inspired by real-life events which took place in the Southern Necropolis in 1954. Inspired by real-life events, Johnny McKnight's tongue-in-cheek script recreates the dramatic events of that night, brought to life by a company of performers from our local community and across the city directed by Guy Hollands.
