Anatomy of the Piano

T1572123145
Anatomy of the Piano sold out its Edinburgh runs in both 2013 and 2014 and has toured to Australia twice to great acclaim. In a performance that's part recital, part fantasy, part lecture ?piano man Pickvance' uncovers the physical, emotional and spiritual anatomy of the instrument. Along the way he sheds light on his own story as a musician, from not getting the Christmas present he wanted as a boy (he got a piano instead of a space rocket) to the codependency he discovered between the piano and pianist, each equally temperamental, each largely redundant without the other. Piano stories, piano solos, songs and dissection of the piano are accompanied by eccentric hand-drawn projections to create a quirkily subtle show of virtuosity, dissection and charmingly surreal humour. Just where exactly is the heart of the piano? Will is the man to tell you as he takes a trip through its body and soul using elements of classical, jazz, rock and pop with original songs and verse interspersed with the odd classic and a gently humorous presentation. Anatomy of the Piano for Beginners will delight anyone who has ever enjoyed the sound of the instrument in whatever genre of music - and charm any who haven't into compliance!
