New English Ballet Theatre is an ambitious venture inspired by impresario Sergei Diaghilev's cross-discipline approach to bringing new works to the stage. Patrons include Darcey Bussell, Carlos Acosta and Mara Galeazzi, along with guest choreographers Wayne Eagling and Samantha Raine - who will all join this endeavour to nurture the talents of a new generation of dancers, choreographers, musicians, artists and designers.

Tryst: Devotion and Betrayal

Following their highly successful debut season in 2012, New English Ballet Theatre returns with a mixed bill programme: Tryst - an exploration of love, devotion, jealousy and betrayal. The programme showcases new works from some of the UK's top choreographic talents. This varied and compelling evening opens with a performance of Orbital Motion, choreographed by The Royal Ballet's Valentino Zucchetti, set to music by Philip Glass. This programme also includes brand new work from The Royal Ballet's Kristen McNally and the former Dutch National Ballet dancer Daniela Cardim Fonteyne's Tangents, featuring beautiful live music from movements from Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. The evening concludes with a newly commissioned work by rising star Andrew McNicol, based on Tolstoy's novella The Kreutzer Sonata. This moving and tragic ballet features a world-class young string quartet playing the music of Janacek, and an on-stage concert featuring excerpts from Beethoven. With set design from Linbury Prize-winner Emma Bailey, this is a dramatic piece of ballet theatre.
