Production details

The acclaimed Canadian pianist opens this year's International Piano Series. Alongside some of Scarlatti's intricately written and high-spirited keyboard works, Hewitt offers two pieces that describe parting and reunion: Bach's lively Capriccio on the Departure of his Beloved Brother and Beethoven's Sonata Les Adieux. Liszt's Petrarch Sonata No.123 provides a poetic bridge towards the Sonata Apr?s une lecture de Dante, one of this composer's most dramatic and dazzling works. Royal Festival Hall
