Heritage, Shailesh Bahoran presents an original synthesis of hip-hop and Indian dance, exploring Indian mythology and dance traditions via his own disciplines of popping and breakdance. In
Tightrope Walker, Netherlands-based choreographer Kalpana Raghuraman has created a work based on the traditional Indian forms of Kathak, Odissi and Bharatanatyam, prising them loose from their conventions to make connections with modern dance. Sooraj Subramaniam, one of the finest interpreters of Indian dance working in Europe, performs this personal solo exploring ideas about growing up within the restrictions of a culture of shame and breaking loose from the shackles of being watched.
