Information for The Man Who Left the Titanic at Brunton Theatre, Musselburgh (Play). On Sunday April 14th, 1912, at 2.30am, the Titanic slipped below the frigid waters of the Atlantic. Yet, J. Bruce Ismay, Managing Director of the White Star Line, stepped into a lifeboat and sailed away from the cries and screams of his passengers. Was he a coward or merely human?
