T372079491

It is a very special occasion; the celebration of the re-building of the old bell tower at St Peters. A guest speaker, the Very Rev. Dean Hole is expected. Songs are to be sung by Rev. Smith's wife and his former curate Mr Rashleigh, now the Rector of the Parish of Norton. Extracts from Charlotte Bronte, Washington Irving and Anthony Trollope are to be performed. Unfortunately, neither Dean Hole nor Mr Rashleigh, nor his wife, Mrs Smith, has yet arrived. But the audience has...The audience raises the rafters as they join in song with the distraught Rev. Smith on his portable harmonium.
