No one can forget Lurcio, the wily slave immortalised by Frankie Howerd in the hilarious sitcom Up Pompeii! - getting into scrapes with scantily clad girls and bumbling masters in pre-eruption Pompeii, and inter-acting with the audience in the way that only Howerd could? This stage version of the popular TV show was written for Howerd, but he died before it could reach the stage.
