Synopsis/Company

Nell Gwynn's story is told by a London prostitute who both envies and loathes Nellie for her success with Charles II. They are both actresses during the time of the Restoration and were deadly rivals on the stage. Queen Adelaide relates her heartbreak at William IV's continuing desire for the dead Dorothy Jordan. His passion is unabated and he wants to procure a great honour for his deceased mistress. The Queen's anger is understandable but comic.
