Fame - the Musical

Fame - the MusicalThe Runar Borge production is inspired by Alan Parker's Oscar-winning film and the popular American television series. Set in New York's legendary High School for the Performing Arts, Fame follows a group of talented students in their quests for stardom and success as well as in their struggles with romance and other teenaged relationships.

Durham student (12Jan13)
Every year, Durham's finest performers put on the much awaited Gala musical - last year, Oklahoma! blew audiences away whilst the year before, The Producers (aided by a West End set) was phenomenal. This year's production of Fame! promises to be fun, exciting and heartwarming, with a dark edge. It's West End quality at a student price!
Kentish Times (11Jan01)
The show may be called Fame 2000 but it is neither bang up to date, nor is it much of a nostalgia trip back to the era of the original TV show. Dialogue is wooden, gags are not funny and characters are painted with the broadest strokes. One or two of the performers also look more like the mums and dads of the kids from fame rather than eager teenagers. Karen Bruce s direction wisely puts the emphasis on the musical set pieces.
