Duncan MacAskill
T0
Born in Clydebank, Duncan MacAskill studied drawing and painting in Glasgow School of Art. MacAskill is primarily a painter, whose art includes stage sets, mail art, performance, sound and installation. His exhibition at Sadler's Wells is entitled
Off The Wall. The centre-piece stands on its own as an installation sculpture, but also works as a vertical stage for choreographed dance, performance, lighting and electronic sound. Chosen performers have been invited by MacAskill to interact with the installation at various points during the exhibition. To complement the sculpture MacAskill has devised a new mail art project using the life and times of Dick Whittington as a springboard for serious and irreverent musings on the Whittington theme. Items mailed daily to Sadler's Wells will be displayed as the exhibition progresses; the items may be handled and examined by everyone who visits.
