Luis Millingalli is one of the finest traditional painters from the mountainous Tigua region of Equador, to the south west of the capital Quito. The art of the area has unique origins in scenes of daily life which were once painted on the traditional drums used at village festivities. Millingalli's brings his highly colourful and decorative style to two distinct genres - scenes of the life and legends of Tigua, and his own trademark series of stunning stylised flower paintings. Millingalli's work has proved tremendously popular at exhibitions in Spain, France, Columbia, Brazil, Japan and the United States as well as his native Equador.
