Riccardo Chailly: A Portrait
T0
Riccardo Chailly is one of the most dynamic conductors working today. He is in demand all over the world and his recent concerts in London were a great success. Above all he has shaped Amsterdam's Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (where he is chief conductor) as an ensemble in his own image - versatile, energetic and with a fabulous clarity of sound. Some have compared his work there with Sir Simon Rattle's at Birmingham, and the two certainly have in common a dedication to make music accessible and exciting. Here Chailly talks about his approach to music making, and its influence on his life.
