Last Mango in Paris

Broken English is a sparkling, witty cabaret of songs, music, and rap that will make you cry with laughter and leap out of your seats cheering, all at the same time. Broken English is a sixty minute tour-de-force presented by urban poet Shane Solanki and his band Last Mango in Paris, which examines identity and belonging through comic and subversive songs, powerful and political spoken word, and music from all corners of the globe, delivered in a cabaret style. The show, set in a classroom, includes a modern day remix of the Indian classic film, Amar, Akbar, Anthony, plus skits about ASBO's, skin lightening, manbags , racist princes, scumbag millionaires and the dangers of kissing your teeth, and many other subjects currently close to our hearts and our wallets. With the help of a band featuring the cr?me of British jazz musicians, Shane Solanki's exceptionally powerful performance creates an intimate atmosphere in which you'll laugh, but leave questioning your own role in shaping society today. Whether you're 18 or 80 years old, if you don't know how to talk to your family about the conflicts in your beliefs which have arisen from growing up in different worlds, start here in the classroom of the Last Mango in Paris, where perhaps you'll discover what it means to speak ?Broken English'. Running time: 90 minutes
