Something in Common

Following his acclaimed performance in Not(es) from New York at the Duchess Theatre earlier this year and prior to joining the international tour of Mamma Mia, West End star Paul Spicer returns to London and is joined by Clare Foster in Something in Common at the Theatre Museum for two nights only on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 October 2006. Something in Common is an intimate account of the lives of two like-minded individuals, in which Paul Spicer is joined by close friend and fellow performer Clare Foster for a sophisticated evening of song. Evoking defining moments in their respective lives and shared existence, Something in Common offers an insight into fifteen years of a friendship that inspired the dreams and determination that have shaped their careers. Brand new songs from some of the world’s most acclaimed contemporary composers, including Adam Guettel, Charles Miller, John Bucchino and Stephen Schwartz receive their UK premières alongside the work of emerging writers such as Grant Olding, James Michalos and Jeff Bowen, who recently won an OBIE for his work on title of show, a groundbreaking new musical that follows its own journey from inception through to opening night. Best known for headlining the critically acclaimed Notes from New York series which he also co-founded, Paul has previously played lead roles in shows including The Witches of Eastwick, Fame and Taboo. He was also seen by millions in the music video to Uniting Nations’ top ten hit single Out of Touch and has numerous other musical theatre credits including the UK tours of Saturday Night Fever and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Following a stint in the UK tour of Chicago, Clare made her West End debut in We Will Rock You and subsequently joined the original cast of The Far Pavilions at the Shaftesbury Theatre. She then created the lead role of Chloe in the world première of Out of This World at the Chichester Festival Theatre and is currently appearing in Avenue Q. For Something in Common, Paul and Clare will be accompanied at the piano by Musical Director James Michalos with Manon Hughes on flute and harp.
