Shunt
T0
3 cabarets (a trilogy). Acts on the floor and in the air in darkness and semi darkness. Since December 1998 shunt has been hosting their bimonthly cabaret in an east London railway arch, where wild bears and midgets swung from the ceiling, and their guests picked splinters out of each other's butts. The benches have since been sanded, but it's still humid and the trains are curiously frequent. They believe that cabaret is the last gasp of live art and that good ideas are golden calves that lead to disappointment and war. It is an Indian summer and the band are drinking doubles. For ourselves, and collaborating artists, the cabaret is a persistent poke between the ribs to complete something, however brief, and to see a reaction to it - and then dance.
