Vaudevillean Nights

T0
Hampstead's "perfect little gem" is proud to host this courageous independent project providing a platform for young professional artists, comedians, musicians, writers and dancers to celebrate Summer with a range of seasonal acts. From Flanders and Swan to George Formby, contemporary Burlesque to provocative new writing, physical comedy to circus tumbling, this current generation of performers turn old-style Vaudeville on its head in a first for the New End Theatre. With a rotating program and traditional compere, one of London's last independent producing houses fuels its creative voices with fresh energy - the perfect prequel to the 2011 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. VAUDEVILLE NIGHTS is a joint endeavour between Gems of Mazal, Piece of Fluff and the New End Theatre. Established in January 2008, Gems of Mazal's Artistic Director Alexa Christopher-Daniels founded Meow Kacha - a monthly home-based cabaret comprising various themes, performances and styles to blur lines between performer and spectator. Full-scale productions including Road, Saint Joan and Talking Heads Plus (Edinburgh 2008-10, street/promenade theatre), The Merchant Of Venice and Ivanov (Apex International Swimming Pool, Edinburgh 2009), Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf, Low Level Panic, The Odd Couple (female version), A Woman Alone, Portraits By Rose and A State Of Grace (New End Theatre). A light-hearted theatre company dedicated to "old-fashioned entertainment", Piece of Fluff and its creator Caroline Wood last produced original musical British Summertime at the New End in September 2010 following a sell-out Edinburgh season.
