With an aim to make shows that question and challenge ourselves, the audience and the world we live in, we are interested in us as humans; the mundane and the extraordinary, the playful and the epic. For Transmission Flight of the Escales will be working on Circus WTF; a show which deconstructs the form and performance of circus; an exploration of the genre and those who live and work in it. By exploring the circus spectacle and audience's appreciation of what this is, we are asking what exactly is it that we call entertainment; why do we relish watching people in the danger-zone and why do performers risk their lives for us? | |

Alula (UK) - T1670837783Fiona Thornhill, Jessica Ladley and Lil Rice have currently completed the BA Honors Degree at the National Centre for Circus Arts, where they all specialise in Cyr Wheel. They are the first and only three women in the world to have trained Cyr together for three years and have thus learnt to synchronise their movement whilst also developing individual styles. They are the founders and core members of Alula. Alula wants to explore what it is like when you bring three new performers into a close-knit group and how this will affect the show and their relationships. For Transmission the company will be exploring these ideas with Wise Fools, a female trapeze trio from Finland. | |
