Giacinto Palmieri is Trying to be Italian - T1145712464In a variation to what announced on the program, Giacinto Palmieri will be joined by Giada Garofalo for a unprecedented double bill of Italian comedians doing comedy in English. Giacinto Palmieri was a finalist at the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year 2010 competition. This Brighton Fringe run sees the début of his new festival show, which will be taken to the Edinburgh Fringe. The title "Giacinto Palmieri is trying to be Italian" was chosen in response to the slogan "Be Italian" promoting the launch of the film "Nine". Is being Italian something that everybody can try? And if this is the case, how is Milan-born, London-based Giacinto Palmieri scoring on that account? More generally, how free are we to choose our own identity? Funny Women Finalist 2009, Giada Garofalo is originally from Sicily but has been based in the UK for eight years. Drawing on her passion for politics, in this show Giada attempts a critical exercise of Italian and International politics with a question: are we in the realm of absurdity or is it me who is lacking any logic?Performer Giada Garofalo. | |
