MUJU does not shy away from controversial issues - including of course the Middle East - and produces both comedy and drama. The MUJU Crew have devised and performed several shows to critical acclaim and since winning the interfaith award from Prince Charles' charity Mosaic, MUJU's work has captured the attention of the media, including the Guardian, Times, Jewish Chronicle and BBC Radio 4. In ‘Extreme Prevention‘, MUJU will perform comedy sketches set against the backdrop of the government’s ‘Preventing Extremism’ strategy that includes radio campaigns warning us, ‘If you suspect it, report it’. Sketches include the reformed extremist desperate to educate the Muslim community on how not to be a fundamentalist, as well as, the doctor using ultrasound scans to search for extremists in the womb! MUJU will also perform ‘Walls‘, a moving drama about two British teenage friends, one Muslim and one Jewish, whose relationship is turned upside down when the Jewish boy’s family move to Israel. A play written for MUJU by Alia Bano, winner of the Most Promising Playwright Award, Evening Standard Theatre Awards 2009.
