The concert marks Joyce’s outstanding contribution to choral singing amongst hundreds of young people in the High Peak and beyond during the past two decades. Susan Bullock has established herself as Britain’s leading Wagnerian soprano and opens next season as Elektra at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Yvonne Howard, recently hailed as ‘surely one of the finest singing actresses this country has produced’, is a well-known favourite with Buxton Festival audiences. Frances McCafferty, a regular guest artist at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden, is also well-known to Opera House audiences through her inimitable performances at Buxton Festival.
