Albert Kuvezin and Yat-Kha
T0
Persecuted under the Soviets for listening to and playing rock 'n' roll, Albert Kuvezin s latest album reflects on his long love of both Tuvan Folk Music and Western Rock. Kuvezin is touring with the Tuvan rockers Yat-Kha, who we are delighted to welcome back to mac. Hailing from the mountainous area of Tuva in Siberia, they specialise in the ancient art of throat singing (which sounds very much like a didgeridoo), given a modern twist thanks to the band members fondness for Western rock music. Their new album, reCOVERy, reflects how music took Kuvezin from one of the world s more remote regions to international recognition, reflecting his love of country, blues, and rock. This extraordinary recording features tracks by Led Zeppelin, Kraftwerk, Hank Williams, Iron Butterfly, Joy Division, Bob Marley, and the Rolling Stones, all done in that unique Yat-Kha style. Their performance will combine these new tracks with Yat-Kha s own material.
