The Arditti Quartet: 40 Years Young showcases the quartet's four decades of pushing the boundaries of new music with 3 sessions featuring music for String Quartet from some of the greatest composers of the 21st century, including world premieres of compositions by Brice Pauset, James Clarke (world premiere), Hilda Paredes and Harrison Birtwistle. Other April music highlights include; a multigenerational jazz quartet known as The Spring Quartet (7 April 2014) led by Jack DeJohnette, Joe Lovano, Esperanza Spalding and Leo Genovese, while These New Puritans (17 April 2014) return to the Barbican with an expanded ensemble for a one-off performance. The ECHO Rising Stars series continues with flautist Juliette Bausor (Fri 11Apr, Milton Court) performing works by Poulence, Prokofiev and Dutilleux, and Snapshot Songs (13-14 April), a new music project that brings together 150 musicians and singers to perform a song-cycle celebrating the many voices of London, culminates in two performances on at Milton Court Concert Hall.
