Basquiat Strings came to prominence in 2007 with a Mercury nomination for their first album 'Basquiat Strings with Seb Rochford', which was voted Best Jazz Album of the Year by the Sunday Times. Since then Basquiat Strings have performed at many festivals in the UK and abroad, including an Electric Prom collaboration with New York sax maverick Ellery Eskerlin, at the Sonar Festival Barcelona and the Rotterdam International Jazz Festival. The band has been featured regularly on BBC radio Jazz on 3 as well as being nominated in the Innovations category for the BBC Jazz Awards.
