Beyond Broadway

USER (03Nov02): Beyond Broadway is an evening of beautifully sung musical highlights and humourous anecdotes all wrapped up in a stylish presentation and atmospheriac set pieces. Ed and Lynn o'Driscoll who front the show are welcoming and personable, and guest singers Dean Mcrae and Karen Barnes bring a touch of West-End class to the proceedings. Musical director (and Radio 4 favourite) Simon Townwell proves to be not only a superb accompanist but also a master of wit and wisdom, and the band he leads are nothing short of superb. The sound and lighting team are also to be commended. Shows featuring musical highlights are commonplace, but this is far and away the cream of the crop. 5
