Bobby Wellins is a great survivor from the 1960s generation of British jazz, the first generation that really began to strike a distinctive British voice. He remains a key figure on the scene today with a truly original sound and voice on the tenor saxophone.

Recently honoured with a lifetime recognition award at the 2009 Scottish Jazz Awards, Bobby is one of our greatest jazz musicians. His contribution to the Stan Tracey album Under Milk Wood is one of the seminal moments in British jazz and his festival appearances are legendary.
