The South Elmsall Village Brass Band can be traced back to humble beginnings in 1884. In 1905, the band was adopted by the local Frickley Colliery and renamed. In 1999 they became Yorkshire Champions and represented Yorkshire at the National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Over the past four years the band have gone on to represent Yorkshire at the Royal Albert Hall three times. This year they are proud to be the Champion band of Yorkshire once again winning the area contest in March and taking the title from such bands as Black Dyke Mills, Brighouse and Rastrick and Grimethorpe Colliery Band.
