Damon's influences are very broad - just check out his previous employers - Paul Weller, Jules Holland, Desmond Decker and The Specials, together with the cream of Britain's younger generation of jazz players. An important factor in Damon's development has been crossover from dance and pop culture to jazz. While firmly rooted in the 50s/60s jazz tradition, his music is expansive.
