Drummers of Burundi

The Drummers of Burundi are Master Drummers from the small African country situated between Zaire and Tanzania. On stage their performances are a memorable experience: they enter in a snake like trail, one after the other carrying and playing the great drums on their heads. Without breaking the rhythm the drums are placed on the ground and a semi-circle is formed around the largest (lead) drum or Inkiranya and each drummer takes a turn to go to it to play and sing.
