In this, the 50th anniversary year of the Edinburgh Quartet, the ensemble is marking the 200th anniversary of Robert Schumann's birth. This concert will include the first of Schumann's three quartets in A minor, composed in 1842. The other pieces will be Borodin's famous second Quartet in D major -a work full of beautiful melodic writing and the quartet in C major opus 74 no1 by Franz Joseph Haydn ,often known as 'the Father of the String Quartet'.
