Ensemble 360 brings together eleven musicians of international reputation, renowned not only for their world-class playing but also for the way in which they communicate their passion and enthusiasm for the music. The programme is full of energy and vivacity, starting with Poulenc’s highly animated and witty Sextet. Dvorak wrote his Quintet early in his life and his young and infectious spirit can be heard throughout. Brahms’ Hungarian Dances, usually heard for orchestra, are based on gypsy tunes and full of explosive energy. In contrast, Brahms’ Trio was written in the wake of his mother’s death.

Beethoven’s The Ghost, is named after the atmospheric slow movement which helped to establish the popularity of the piano trio as genre. Brahms’ Serenade is a lively dance-like work that’s full of surprises! Sandwiched between the two is a new and beautiful work by Welsh composer Huw Watkins. Chamber music is close to Huw’s heart and he has written works for many leading chamber ensembles. Broken Consort was written especially for Ensemble 360 in 2008.
