BBC Radio 2 - D-Day 70 Years On

'BBC Radio 2's Friday Night is Music Night presents D-Day 70 Years On' will be the UK's largest concert to commemorate the 70th anniversary of D-Day. Be part of history as this incredible story is retold at the Royal Albert Hall through drama and narration featuring Patrick Stewart, Jeremy Vine, Dermot O'Leary and Louise Minchin accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra and a military band featuring musicians from all the UK services. Guest singers to be announced soon. Please listen to BBC Radio 2 for more details. The D-Day operation during World War II was the largest amphibious invasion in world history and was executed by land, sea and air. Launched on 6 June 1944, the simultaneous landing of allied forces took place on five separate beaches - Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword - in Normandy, France. It marked the beginning of the end of World War II. Profits raised from this event will be donated to SSAFA and SkillForce (learn more on the tabs above).
