Production details
Internationally respected pianist Jonathan Biss performs music by some of the composers with whom he is most strongly associated. The concert begins with Berg's intensely emotional Sonata Op.1, which is followed by Schoenberg's Six Little Piano Pieces Op.19, adventurous and imaginative miniatures. Before the interval Biss plays Schumann's Waldszenen, a set of pieces depicting a peaceful day in the woods, including the mysterious 'Prophet Bird'. He devotes the second half to two contrasting Beethoven sonatas - the whimsical G major, Op.79, and the stormy Appassionata, Op.57. Queen Elizabeth Hall
