Kiki Chen completed her Bachelor of Music degree in 2006 at the Taipei National University of the Arts and her Masters degree at Birmingham Conservatoire in 2008. She was the recipient of the 2006 Herbert Lumby Prize for violinists, was a finalist of the 2007 Sylvia Cleaver Chamber Music Prize and this year has been accepted onto the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra training scheme as a first violinist. Kiki has been a professional orchestral player since the age of 17. She has performed in South America, Swaziland, New York, Boston, Washington DC, Toronto, Vancouver, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Birmingham Symphony Hall. She has recently played at the battle prom in Wolverhampton, Kenilworth festival and Birmingham Symphony Hall with the CBSO as an extra player. Kiki’s repertoire includes (amongst others) Gershwin, Beethoven, Mozart, Kreisler, Tchaikovsky and Dvorak Kiki also ventures into other musical styles, playing electric violin in the band, The Love Child Electric.
