Nominated for Best Original Song in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2005, Kirsty McGee's bittersweet songs, which can only be described as 'folk noir', are as much informed by Tom Waits and Jacques Brel as by English folk music. Kirsty's well-crafted songs and striking voice first drew the attention of Radio 2's Mike Harding and Bob Harris in 2002, leading to a BBC Radio 2 Horizon nomination in 2003.
