Jem Finer directs Longplayer's spectacular first-ever live performance: a 1,000 minute section from its 1,000 year duration. A tiny fragment from its great expanse, Longplayer Live will be played by a 26-strong all-star orchestra on a unique 20-metre wide instrument, with highly resonant singing bowls for tone generators and humans for power. Jem Finer's Longplayer is famously the longest non-repeating piece of music ever composed. Artangel Longplayer Conversation In parallel with the live performance in the Roundhouse's Main Space, there will be the Artangel Longplayer 2009 Conversation - a 12-hour talking relay of 24 leading writers, filmmakers, scientists, academics and technology activists including Jeanette Winterson, Susie Orbach, Ruth Padel, Marcus du Sautoy, Robert Preston and Lisa Jardine.Your pass allows you to come and go throughout the day - if you need some sustenance the Roundhouse cafe and bars will be open from 8am for breakfast with last food orders at 8pm. The bars will be open until 11pm.
