Luke Haines

Well-regarded as one of the finest and most prolific songwriters in Britain, Luke Haines has helmed the glam noir of the Auteurs, the extraordinary broken funk of Baader Meinhof, and the downbeat atmospherics of Black Box Recorder, in addition to releasing a number of albums under his own name. Haines also recently received a nomination for a British Independent Film Award (BIFA) for his score for the movie, Christie Malry s Own Double Entry. Whether mixed in metaphors or straight-to-the-point, Haines compositions display sly lyrical marksmanship, perfectly capable of placing a keen eye on class, politics, sex, and lifestyles of the urban and suburban. Despite the less than upbeat nature of his subject matter, he s an unapologetic pop songwriter. Tonight s solo acoustic gig is in support of ?Luke Haines Is Dead , a three CD boxed set recently released by EMI Recordings.
