One man's journey through 60 years of musical theatre. This year The IDOLS (Infirmary Dramatic, Operatic and Literary Society) is celebrating 60 years of presenting musical theatre to Leicester audiences. Based at The Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI) the IDOLS has always strived to present the best shows possible at The Little Theatre and is confident that this year's audience will have that same positive experience. In recent years they have brought to the stage popular classics such as Singin' In The Rain, The King and I and Hello Dolly as well as lesser known shows such as Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, The Producers and Jekyll and Hyde. All profits from the society help to fund projects at the LRI and, over the years, this has amounted to tens of thousands of pounds. This year, to celebrate its 60th year, they also plan to raise money for another charity, The Alzheimer's Society and, with this in mind they have compiled a unique show with music from a range of shows. Some of the songs you will hear are from shows that they would normally be unable to perform whilst others are popular reprises from the last 60 years. The story tells of the memories evoked by a Scrapbook and the sometimes blurred recollections of shows performed here and in London during the last six decades.
