Nic Jones

The word "legend" is overused but in the case of Nic Jones it's entirely justified. Before his car crash in 1982 he was one of the leading lights of the folk revival, initially with The Halliard and subsequently solo. His 1980 album Penguin Eggs is an acknowledged classic, regularly turning up at or near the top of Best Folk Albums lists and practically everyone in the folk world owes a debt to his intricate and bewitching guitar style. He was unable to play or perform for 28 years after the crash but briefly returned to the stage at Sidmouth Folk Festival in 2010, a magical and deeply emotional evening, and then did a few select shows in 2012, including appearances at Cambridge, Warwick and Towersey

Nic will be accompanied by his son Joe, an accomplished guitarist in his own right and something of a ringer for his father's style. They will be playing songs from Nic's classic period as well as some of the new songs he has written. If you've seen any of his shows since his return you'll know how moving and magical they are. If you haven't you're in for a treat.
