We are thrilled to have the highly-regarded Russian pianist, Nikolai Demidenko, as this season’s recitalist. His particular speciality is Beethoven and Chopin, so his choice of repertoire in this evening’s programme will be something truly special. In the first half of the recital he will perform three Beethoven sonatas, including the ever-popular Pathétique and Moonlight sonatas. The second half of the concert will be devoted to Chopin and will be concluded with perhaps his greatest piano sonata in B flat minor, with its contrasting shades of darkness and light.
