In the second of this season's two Beethoven Nights, the airy First Symphony and the rousing Fifth frame the expansive Violin Concerto - of which tonight's American soloist, Hilary Hahn, made a Grammy Award-winning recording at the age of 18. Returning for only its third appearance at the Proms, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen gives its first performance here under its Artistic Director, Paavo Jarvi.
