Organ Recital
Picking up on the opening weekend's complete performance of The Mastersingers of Nuremberg and a number of other Wagner works during the season, charismatic organist Wayne Marshall turns a vividly coloured spotlight on the composer. The grandeur of the two opera overtures translates fittingly to the Royal Albert Hall's mighty instrument, while the airborne Valkyries may need to hold on to their horses even more tightly than usual during this particular flight. As one of the most fluent and ingenious of keyboard improvisers, Marshall turns his attention to Tristan and Isolde - forming an upbeat to tonight's performance of the opera's second act.
