BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra

In his last Proms appearance as the BBC Scottish SO's Chief Conductor, Ilan Volkov conducts the annual Proms performance of Beethoven's ever-inspiring hymn to universal brotherhood. We continue our survey of the complete Stravinsky ballets with his austerely beautiful, almost abstract, ritualisation of the music-driven Orpheus myth that has obsessed European composers from before Monteverdi to Birtwistle (Prom 39) and beyond.
