The English Baroque Soloists and Sir John Eliot Gardiner continue Bach Day with the second instalment of the complete Brandenburg Concertos. At the centre is No. 5, with its elaborate cadenza for solo harpsichord; No. 3 uses its resources of 10 solo strings to devise ever-changing textures, dancing rhythms and sonorous harmonies; and No. 2 has a dazzling, notoriously challenging trumpet part that exploits the very top of the instrument's range.
