Nightmare in Venice: A Baroque Fantasy
Red Priest is the only early music group in the world to have been compared in the press to the Rolling Stones, Jackson Pollock, the Marx Brothers, Spike Jones and the Cirque du Soleil! This extraordinary acoustic foursome play mainly their own arrangements based closely on the original music and illuminating it. Magical, mysterious, fantastical - this is a theatrical presentation of some of the most extraordinary chamber music of the baroque era, featuring Vivaldi's Nightmare Concerto, Tartini's Devil's Trill sonata, masque music by Robert Johnson, Gluck's Dance of the Blessed Spirits, Leclair's Demon Airs and Red Priest's own Fantasia on Corelli's La Follia. The quartet of baroque players is led by Piers Adams, recently heralded in the Washington Post as "the reigning recorder virtuoso in the world today" Be prepared to be swept off your feet.
