John Tavener's Requiem

Outstanding British singers Elin Manahan Thomas and Andrew Kennedy join Richard Hickox and the acclaimed City of London Sinfonia in the first London performance of John Tavener's recently completed Requiem. Tavener's masterpiece is preceded by works of equal beauty and intensity by Purcell and Shostakovich, whose String Quartet No.8 was arranged for full string orchestra by Rudolph Barshai.
