User Review: 28Sep04: I saw them on the 9th and they just blew me away. I still keep thinking about it and finding myself with a big grin on my face even now - it's rare for a live gig to have that kind of effect on me. But sadly the sound, at least for the first half was a bit on the poor side. I benefitted from the fact that I'd taken a pair of ear-plugs with me (I'd woken with a bit of earache, so popped into Boots on the way as a bit of a safeguard). They cut out a lot of the excess bass and treble and it sounded amazing, so a top tip there, take a spare pair of plugs!

User Review: 22Sep04: Sorry you guys had a bad sound system in the UK. The two shows in Montreal and Toronto Canada were awesome. The sound system, audience, band energy were something I will never forget. LONG LIVE RUSH.

User Review: 16Sep04: 11 Sep 04 NEC Arena: First saw Rush in 1976 and have seen them on every visit to these shores since except for the G.U.P.tour. This was an awesome show - why are they not the biggest band in the world? As for 'odd selections from poor albums' - what poor albums? I knew every song & sang myself hoarse! I was on the Lerxst side of the stage and I thought the sound balance was OK. Camera work & back projection was spot on and the blow up doll even brought a smile to Geddy's face. They rocked!

User Review: 14Sep04: They rocked hard at Wembley on the 9th other people must have been listening to something else as the sound was awesome for those of us on the "blue" side of the arena. Long Live Rush!!!

User Review: 14Sep04: 13th Sep: I saw Rush 10 years ago - at Wembley and was blown away, can't say anything other than that! I waited that long to see them again and they are still incredible perhaps the best in each of their specialities. But oh! dear, the sound , it has to be said, was just dire! I mean the balance was way wrong and the mixing guy should be shot - who the heck told him he could do this job? So there you have it a great band - let down by some of the worse sound mixing/balancing I have ever heard at a gig!!

User Review: 13Sep04: well second 12th, the fact you haven't heard half the songs is hardly the boys fault .... they were, are and always will be the best. it was a great mnix of old and new and a great reminder of why we got into them into the first place. 'Subtle variationis' can quite rightly always be found on the albums and DVD and I'm sure that, like me, most who were there just enjoyed being in the guys' company listening to their awe inspiring music.

User Review: 12Sep04: I have to agree with 10 sep 04. This was the forth time seeing rush and after the opening medley they played stuff I'd never heard of and expected full songs based on the medley. Saw at NEC on 11/9 and the sound was quite balanced there though and I was even seated at the right. What's the tumble dryer thing anyway? The theme didn't even change since the Rio gig. Never mind they'e been around for thity years now and even though it was mainly down to my naivety of their current work I can't fault it much. I should maybe even envy them

User Review: 11Sep04: I agree...to much distortion on Alex guitar, and too much reverb... skip the medley and play full songs

User Review: 10Sep04: I waited 25years to catch up with Rush in concert after seeing them in 1979 at the Hammersmith Odeon supporting the Permanenet Waves album. Never got tired of listening to their music over the years and bouyed by the Live in Rio DVD took my daughter and wife along to show them a class Rock act. Well ... what a shame from the opening medley of oldies (as I discovered later) the sound was awful just swamping the singing of Geddy Lee and the guitar of Alex Lifeson. I had to check the web to find out that I could not decipher classics snippets from Anthem and Bastille day. It did improve slightly but it seems they have decided to Heavy up the sound - I believe at the expense of the subtle variations to be found in their tracks. It was sad as they played 3 hours with an intermission and who else can do that these days. Who says time has improved the sound systems? or maybe Wembley arena was not suited to their system? I have vivid memories of a great 1979 set which set the pulse racing. Why not stick to the older and favourite tracks if celebrating 30 years instead we got what I can only guess were several tracks from the new album (just a blur) and other odd selections from poor albums - this was just deafening noise (drum solo and borrowed Who numbers apart) - sorry guys I will return to the DVD live at Rio for solace.

USER (15Sep04): Positives first: it was great to see Rush again after such a long break. I think they deserve to be mentioned in the New Year's honours for playing a three hour set at their age. They even finished with 'limelight': what a great choice. Now the negatives - who decides the venue? The SECC may pack in more fans, but the acoustics are slightly worse than god-awful, and the one hour wait to get out of the car park takes the shine off the gig big-style. Nothing against Glas Vegas, but just for once, couldn't they play a smaller venue like the Edinburgh Playhouse? That way I could see everything, hear everything (including the keyboards) and perhaps get home to bed before 2am? 4
