R.Strauss Prelude to Capriccio Schubert 2 or 3 songs arr Woolrich John Woolrich Capriccio (Scottish première performances) Schoenberg Verklärte Nacht The composer John Woolrich has curated a special programme to frame his new work for the Scottish Ensemble, Capriccio: the searingly intense Prelude from Richard Strauss’s opera Capriccio and Schoenberg’s bittersweet and gorgeous Verklärte Nacht. These pieces frame the Scottish première of John Woolrich’s new piece, and as a 40th Anniversary gift to the Ensemble, John is arranging a group of Schubert songs for the full forces of the Ensemble.
