Skokiaan - is an up-and-coming Liverpool-based band playing classic South African Jive and Jazz with style and conviction. Formed in 1995, the band has played throughout Britain from Lands End to John O'Groats, building a reputation for resonant and rhythmic live performances. Skokiaan mix brass, guitars and percussion to draw on the vibrant musical traditions of the South African townships. Their repertoire blends the uplifting jazz and blues of the African Jazz Pioneers and the Soul Brothers, traditional South African Kwela and the quiet, reflective styles of renowned artists such as Abdullah Ibrahim to create a heady musical cocktail which is truly irresistible.
